It might not have the features of its higher-end rivals, but then it doesn't have their price tag either. black-shiplap-statement-range-hood-contemporary-modern-kitchen. But as a tool for designing relatively simple structures, for planning interior changes or just for working out what furniture is going to work best where, it's a little bargain. Let's be honest: you're not going to use Sweet Home 3D to design a mansion or a skyscraper, or even to do a very detailed set of plans for a home build. ![]() Exporting these can be a little slow, painfully so if you're exporting in large pixel sizes at 'Best' picture quality – think minutes instead of moments – but they do give a very good idea of how your room(s) will look in reality. You can also create a video walkthrough in 3D view at a resolution ranging from a microscopic 176 x 132 to a massive 7680 x 4320 pixels, or create high-res photos based on points of view such as the building entrance or specific room. The 2D export is in SVG format, appropriate for most image programs, and the 3D object is exported as an OBJ file for 3D graphics apps. If you want to share your plan with others, you can save it as a Sweet Home 3D document or export your 2D or 3D objects. Here is a SH3D rendering of kitchen where boxes contribute to the counter-top, cabinet panelling, light fittings, cabinet handles, etc:Īll in all, SH3D prevented many mistakes and helped guide the whole effort as we worked our way through the entire house.Hi-res images take a while but they do give you a really good idea of how your designs will look in real life (Image credit: Carrie Marshall) If the sides of all primitives had a separate material that would also be very helpful (it would be easier than laminating with more boxes). It would then be easy to create a variety of counter tops, slopes, roofs, etc, without resorting to Art of Illusion or other such tools. It would be useful if SH3D came with a standard set of primitive shapes, such as boxes, prisms, pyramids, and a thin walled open-top open-bottom box. I guess multiple boxes might not be a technique for textures with larger grain. In my case the counter was engineered stone with the surface options all being small granular textures. However, like others on this forum, I cant find a library with a comprehensive range of kitchen units. ![]() I can make a hole for a sink by making that part of the counter out of several boxes surrounding the hole. I am new to SH3D and want to design my new kitchen. I use groupings of boxes which I size and then texture and group with the standard kitchen furniture shipped with SH3D. When you double click the item, click on the "textures" tab and scroll down to Miscellaneous and you'll find granite and marble finishes that can be used. Whatever you need a 3D floor plan creator or a bathroom/bedroom/kitchen planner weve got you covered. There is a "Shelf Maple" in the Bedroom List that I used as a countertop, you just need to figure out the elevations and textures. Only do a handful of kitchens now rather than hundreds of them. It's probably better geared towards that specific task than SH3D.Ĭhanged jobs. If you've been using kitchen design software for 20 years, it might be best to stick to that software. ![]()
